There were great plans when we bought Julie’s mum at the Oban Highland cattle sale in 2022. Her name was Julie the 33rd of Craigowmill, 

Julie the 33rd was a direct descendent of our Supermoodel Sorcha, whose Grandmother was Julie 1st of Craigowmill.  This show heifer was bought in-calf to a black Highland bull and we hoped to get a wee black calf. We were still happy though when the sweet dun heifer was born and we named her Julie 1st of Airyolland. Her mother had been a show cow and was still very ‘glossy’ when she calved, so she struggled to produce enough milk for Julie. We tried to supplement her for a little while but it between clear that we would have to rear her on the bottle with her friend Fergus. She soon recovered and now she’s no longer like a wee ugly duckling. 

She is growing up into a fine young coo indeed.
